Finally today, I decided to go for it...its been over 20 yrs since I have been on a bike, but you know the old adage "its like riding a bike, you never forget how"
That may be true, but knowing how to do it, & actually physically doing it, are often two very different things...but I thought "what the hell...how hard can it be?"
So I informed the owner I would like a bike ...he looked very doubtful, before asking me if I had ever ridden one....
I puffed up indignantly, telling him of course I have (omitting the fact that last time I was a lot shorter in the tooth...Lmao)
He & his staff were lurking about waiting for the show...lol...but I told them that I would take the bike later...when I was ready...
By coincidence (cough cough) I was ready when everyone had disappeared for the afternoon siesta...LOL
The first few practice turns, around the parking area, were a bit fraught!
Picture your kid learning to ride their bikes, & the wobbling progress that has your heart in your mouth....
Well...that was pretty much the way it was....lmao
But suddenly I got my balance, & I was off!
Kampot is a small town, so doesnt have a large volume of traffic at any time, & at siesta time, I pretty much had the streets to myself....there were only a couple of times while meeting motorbikes, on a corner, that wobbles were evident....but by the time I had ridden about for around 30 mins, I was cornering like a pro!
So, look out Kampot...Granny has wheels!!!!
