Grandma was over the moon at the roses, which she immediately placed on the family altar in the foyer...
She has been inviting the neighbours in to view them...it is the colour that is enthralling everyone!
A very successful gift!
I washed & dried the "jacket" overnight & gave it back to Hanh this morning...with very fake, effusive thanks...
Which backfired on me badly!!!
She wanted to gift it to me!!!!!! OMG...what to do?
You know when someone gives you an absolutely awful gift, & you spend the rest of your days, rushing to haul out of the cupboard, onto display, every time they visit?
(my mother in law was the queen of dreadful gifts...there was always a rush to display knitted nylon toilet roll covers,in bilious colours, & shell encrusted picture frames...every time we knew she was visiting...she ALWAYS remembered what she had given, & snarky enquiries would be made if she couldnt see them on show ...lol)
Well....this was like that...except, seeing as I am living in the same building as Hanh, there would be the expectation that I would don the monstrosity, every time the temperature dropped....
Oh NO NO NO !!!
So....to my shame , I barefacedly LIED !
I told her that I appeared to be allergic to the fabric (well...that is NOT untrue....I'm allergic to the hideousness of polarfleece...have never worn it...LOL)
I told her that it had bought me out in a rash !
A sad goodbye to Max & Evi, this morning...(& as expected, 3 huge bags of fruit...I have been sharing it out among the neighbours...)
If I ever find myself in Amsterdam, I have a bed!
