Sey Me dropped me off at the east gate, & told me he would pick me up on the other side, a distance of about 3 kilometres...there is a good sized walk to the actual temple proper...the temple itself covers about a kilometre, then another long walk out to the far entrance...EEK!
Off I set, through the ever thickening mist...the trees soaring above me...total silence, except for the dripping of the water from the leaves...it reminded me of that famous philosophical question
" If a tree falls in a forest & no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound?"
I became aware of movement overhead...a small troupe of monkeys moving silently through the treetops....like grey ghosts... in a dream!
Suddenly looming out of the mist, Ta Phrom..
6000 yr old moss covered stones, dark doorways , twisted tree roots & strange carvings...surreal!
I had a blissful hour & a half totally alone, communing with nature before the sun started to break the mist up & groups of people started appearing....
A memorable experience!!!
